How to play Cricket?
Cricket is a side ways game because you bat side ways and bowl side ways. A team is made up of 11 players including the captain. Let's look at the different roles of each player.
The fielding side
Wicket keeper: this player is found behind the stumps to stop the ball from going to the back boundry (the boundry behind the batsman). He also stumps the batman when the batsman is outside the crease (it is a white line on the pitch which limits the space in which the batsman can move).
Bowler: This is someone who throws the bowl at the wicket. He tries to hit the wicket to get the batsmen out. There is also a crease for the bowler. If the bowler if the bowler steps over the crease the umpire (someone who says if it is out or not) will signal no ball (if you step over the crease)that means the batting side get a extra ball and one run.
Fielder:This is a player that catches the ball when the ball comes to them. They try to protect the ball from going to the boundry (this is something that is the outer layer of the field).
The batting side
Batsmen:This is someone who hits the balll so that the balll does not hit the wicket (this is three sticks with two bails on top) they are send to hit as many runs as they can.
Object that are seen on the cricket ground when a match is being played:
Wickets:This is three sticks that are hammered into the ground and two small sticks n top of it.
Boundry:This is something that is used to help to see if it is a boundry (four when the ball hits the boundry after somany bounces or one bounce)or a six (when the ball goes over the boundry without bouncing).
The things that the game is played on:
Pitch:This is something that is 22 yards long (20.12 meters long) and the width is 10 feet (3 m).This is something that is in the centre of the cricket field.
Cricket field:This is the thing they play this game called cricket on.It is in a circle shape and is very big.
Extra runs given to the batting team:
No-Ball:this is a ball that give you one run and they get the one run when the bowler steps over the crease (a white line at both ends of the pitch) or when the bowler bowls over the waist of the batsmen.
Wide:this is when the bowler bowls wide of the two lines at both edges of the pitch.
Leg-bye:this is when the batsmen do not hit the ball and runs when it hits the leg and they get a run.
Bye:this is when the batsmen leave the ball and get runs.
